A comfortable, stylish oasis for peace and relaxation while honoring sustainable practices

Eco-Retreat Colombia - view of the mountains

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • The creation of a mountain retreat with stunning views of the surroundings
  • A “hacienda” elegance with traditional local artisan works and crafts and reclaimed Colombian roof tiles
  • A layout that married the land topography with the building design in order to view the outdoors from various floors
  • Accommodations for eight people, including four bathrooms, a laundry room, an entertainment room, a formal dining room, and a living room
  • Multi-access to the outdoors with a covered terrace and large sunroof area for meditation, yoga, and connect with breathless nature

CHALLENGES

  • Adapting the design of the space to the steep sloping terrain
  • Maximizing the natural views from every floor
  • Working with the original layout which had the bedrooms on the shady side of the villa facing the slope
  • Dividing the building into two roofed areas: a traditional two-sided roof in the front and a sunroof in the back
